Sue Windley, Sculptor
Established in 2006 Sue Windley’s business has grown steadily over the years and now with a major expansion of business in early 2013 when she took over the building next door (what was Capricorn Minerals and Jewellery), Sue’s range of beautiful jewellery has expanded too.

So using her knowledge of space, colour and form Sue’s work, which is primarily inspired by nature, now ranges from life size sculptures to delicate fine sliver pendants. She now uses an even wider range of materials adding fine sliver, freshwater pearls, and gemstones to the stone, wood, plastic, resins she has always used

Sue creates gemstone and freshwater pearl jewellery using traditional techniques of stringing and knotting on silk, sterling silver clasps are used with all designs. She also has silver and gemstone jewellery which is individually handpicked which ensures the best quality with lots of unique pieces and designer jewellery to suit all tastes and occasions (and pockets)

Continuing a long established tradition of selling raw and polished minerals and gemstones on the premises, Sue still sells attractive ornamental minerals with pieces ranging from young collector’s minerals to large specimens for room decoration.

Sue say’s “I feel that having a Masters degree in Fine Art gives me a good eye for both making and buying jewellery”

A former student of the Norwich School of Art, Sue has exhibited extensively across the UK. Her work has been shown at the Surrey Sculpture Society in Polesden Lacey, the Woodstock Museum in Oxford and, more locally, at the John Innes Centre and the Grapevine Gallery in Norwich.

Making objects gives life to thought, creating solid objects representing things, people and ideas from a variety of materials. Sue enjoys exploring different materials and methods of working. Forming solid objects from ideas is the magic of creativity.

Hoping to encourage others to take up art Sue sells art and sculpture materials including Derwent Pencils and Reeves products. Sue also sells children’s creative hobby crafts and imaginative activity kits. Inspiring people to have fun and make things themselves (some of which you can also do in the shop see Made By You page) Being creative is essential to enhance and enrich the magic of normal life.
