Spring Lambs Arriving in Feb in the Norfolk Broads

Spring Lambs Arriving in Feb

The spring lambs are arriving at Junior Farm Wroxham Barns. Daily indoor bottle-feeding sessions are scheduled to begin on Saturday, February 13.

Wroxham Barns' lambs are all the smallest of triplets from local farms and will consume more than 5,000 litres of milk during the bottle-feeding season up to the end of July. Ewes find it difficult to look after triplets, so Junior Farm visitors who feed the lambs are helping out as surrogate mums.

Spend all day at Junior Farm feeding guinea pigs, rabbits and pygmy goats plus ducks and geese on the pond. Take part in the pony grooming session and watch the farm staff feed the friendly pigs. Have a quiet moment in the new bird hide, with its special low level viewing panel for small children, and have fun with the highly inquisitive Nubian Goats. All the daily activities at Junior Farm are fully supervised by experienced staff. There are good hand washing facilities for cleaning up thoroughly during visits.

Admission to Junior Farm is £3.95 (under three free), open 10am to 5pm.

The farm was runner up in the National Farm Attractions Network's Farm of the Year competition in 2008, has Countryside Education Visits Scheme (CEVAS) accreditation and has the learning outside the classroom quality mark from the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom.

There is much more for children and grown ups to enjoy at Wroxham Barns at half-term – children's fun fair, championship 18-hole mini adventure golf course, craft studios, The Norfolk Gallery (art exhibitions), Country Food Store, home-made fudge shop, Bill LeGrice Roses and plant centre and clothes and gifts in The Gallery.

The award-winning restaurant-café serves breakfast, morning coffee, lunches and afternoon tea, all freshly made, using local, seasonal produce where possible.

Wroxham Barns is open daily 10am to 5pm, 10 miles from Norwich, take A1151 to Wroxham then follow brown and white tourist signs for 1.5miles on the Tunstead road. Free parking. Tel. 01603 783762
