The opening of the bird hide coincides with a special RSPB day at Junior Farm, from 11am to 4pm. RSPB staff and volunteers will be on hand with telescopes and microscopes to help families with bird and insect identification and supervise pond-dipping activities.

Eileen Calverley, Manager Junior Farm said: "We have introduced the hide to give families with young children an introduction to bird watching. There are resident ducks and geese and we have introduced bird feeders to encourage other species. The hide is being equipped with RSPB bird identification charts and a log book, so families can record their bird watching successes."

Wroxham Barns is open daily 10am to 5pm, 10 miles from Norwich, take A1151 to Wroxham then follow brown and white tourist signs for 1.5miles on the Tunstead road. Free parking. Tel. 01603 783762
