Farm to Fork – Enjoy Fine Norfolk Meats in the Norfolk Broads

Wroxham Barns Farm to Fork Supper – Enjoy Fine Norfolk Meats
Wroxham Barns is staging a special Farm to Fork Supper featuring fine Norfolk meats from Swannington Farm to Fork on Friday, June 12 from 7.30pm.
The three-course supper, at £22.50 per person, is a feast of fabulous local produce. To start diners choose from pigs cheek terrine, fillet of lamb salad or oxtail soup. Main course choices are pan fried slice of pork belly, roast sirloin of beef (£4 supplement) and confit of lamb. Then to round of the meal, steamed treacle pudding, buttermilk pudding with rhubarb or Wigmore ewes milk cheese, with coffee and Wroxham Barns Fudge to finish. Vegetarian options are available. For more information or to book, telephone 01603 777106, or email deankemplay@wroxhambarns.co.uk.
Rob Mutimer, from Swannington Farm to Fork, will join diners to talk about his family's approach to rearing livestock, which was highly commended in the Beautiful Farm Awards 2008. The Mutimers have been rearing pigs at Woodlands Farm, Swannington since 1973 and also have sheep. Trevor Child, Hevingham, rears the cattle.
All animals are reared to very high welfare standards, which are monitored by the RSPCA's freedom foods scheme, and have full traceability. Swannington meat has a low carbon footprint; the animals are killed at the local abattoir (three miles away) and the carcasses are returned to mature before butchering on site.
Rob Mutimer said: "I am pleased that Wroxham Barns is one of our customers and feel very positive about working with a business so committed to promoting the best of Norfolk. I am looking forward to the Farm to Fork supper, we are going to have an excellent meal."
Ian Russell, Director Wroxham Barns said: "Our customers are already enjoying Rob Mutimer's fine meats in the restaurant. It is so important for local businesses to work together to promote the best that the county has to offer. Our Farm to Fork supper is going to be a real treat, and is the first of what will be a series of food events showcasing locally sourced produce."
